A modular desk designed to enhance creative practice in small studio spaces, focusing in particular on the practice of mixed media artist

Janet Stephen.

Following the materials and wellbeing ethos of StudioIlse is a large part of this project, as well as user-centred design.

The natural environment that surrounded the artist was of great influence on the design of the desk, and brand behind it.

The project seeks to initiate conversations on the possibility for modular furniture to enhance multi-disciplinary creative craft, through a bespoke service which capitalises on user centred design with a focus on wellbeing through materials.

Sliding surfaces accomodate for the practice of illustration, pottery and stained glass.

A minimal lamp designed for Glasgow based design firm, Instrmnt.

The finished lamp.

Using the Find - Play - Make - Talk design process, the lamp was designed to fit seamlessly into the style of minimal interiors, whilst considering light levels through a dimming feature and material choice. Jute was combined with ash to create a lamp that is clean in finish, and explores how light is dispersed through material.
